Divorce: Jaime King files restraining order

On Behalf of Law Office of Timothy S. Keough, P.A. | Jun 10, 2020 | Divorce

In 2007, actress and model Jaime King met director Kyle Newman on the set of Fanboys. She later said she had felt an instant attraction to him. They were married for nearly 13 years and have two children together. King recently filed a petition for divorce. She also requested that the court file a restraining order against King. Many Florida spouses may relate to such issues.

The judge overseeing the case issued a temporary restraining order, and a court hearing was scheduled. King also wanted the court to grant an emergency child custody petition, but that request was declined without prejudice. King was said to have been quite upset with the ruling.

When domestic violence or complicated child custody issues arise, it can be stressful on parents as well as children. No details were provided in this particular case as to what may have occurred that prompted King to seek a restraining order against her ex. For the time being, Newman is not allowed within 100 yards of the mother of his two children.

If a Florida parent has concerns about domestic violence or child custody issues, he or she is wise to seek support from an experienced family law attorney. The well-being of any children involved is a top priority when judges consider divorce issues such as custody, parenting time or child support. In certain cases, if a parent believes a ruling is unfair or has undermined his or her rights, an appeal may be filed through the proper legal channels.
