Is an uncontested divorce the easiest way to end a marriage?

On Behalf of Law Office of Timothy S. Keough, P.A. | Jun 1, 2023 | Divorce

The dissolution of a marriage is something that no person truly expects to go through. Although divorce is rarely simple or easy, there is a way for spouses in Florida to separate amicably and move forward with their new lives in a positive manner. By pursuing an uncontested divorce, separating spouses can avoid litigation by coming to agreements on the key issues of their divorce.

What is an uncontested divorce?

An uncontested divorce is one of the easiest and simplest ways to end a marriage. An uncontested divorce is possible when spouses are in mutual agreement about their separation and the terms surrounding their divorce. Both spouses must agree on the terms of the divorce, including child custody, child support, property division (including debts) and spousal support.

The advantages of an uncontested divorce

If an uncontested divorce is possible, there are many reasons why it may be the ideal way to legally separate from a spouse. For one, it is typically a much faster process than going through a litigated divorce, which is often a process that takes months, if not years to complete. Since an uncontested divorce keeps the matter out of court, it is usually far less expensive than a contested divorce.

Legal help

Although divorce is never expected, it happens. When spouses have good communication and a desire to get through this event as amicably as possible, an uncontested divorce may be the most peaceful and less stressful way forward. Those in Florida who have questions or want to know more about uncontested divorce could benefit by contacting an experienced family law attorney.
